Oaky Creek North - Tieri - CQMRS 2025
The Central Queensland Coal Mines Rescue Competition hosted at Glencore's Oaky North Mine took place on the 7th of August, 2025. This event brought together elite underground mines rescue teams from Central Queensland, showcasing their skills in realistic emergency scenarios like underground search and rescue, hazard awareness, first aid, multi casualty situations and firefighting.
As an event photographer in the Isaac Region, this competition offered a unique opportunity to capture the intensity, camaraderie, teamwork, and all round essential skills of these life-saving professionals. The high energy and support from fellow mine workers ensured a successful day, with and realistic set up of a mock underground long wall, multi-casuality emergency situation and drift runner fire. The focus was on safe, calm and professional approaches to attending emergency scenarios, lead by a captain each team member fulfilled their roles to ensure a safe outcome for all involved, each scenario was monitored and assessed by CQMRS. T teams attended from mines located at Grosvenor, Moranbah North, Broadmeadow, and Kestrel.
